I’m Becky Blackledge and I founded Get Real Sessions because I believe that every child and young person should have high quality, age appropriate, accurate relationships and sex education (RSE). Relationships are part of pretty much everything we do, so good RSE is vital to support children and young people in every area of their life, whatever situation they are in.
I love teaching relationships and sex education; staying curious, keeping to the facts, answering questions honestly and giving students time to think about what they think and the choices they want to make.
For over 10 years I have worked in Relationships and Sex Education, with national organisations like Brook and the NSPCC, local organisations in Bristol, and through my work with Get Real Sessions. I have taught in over 80 Schools and Colleges, delivered training and have spoken to teachers, education professionals, support workers, PD tutors and anyone will listen (!) about their feelings and experiences around RSE and the needs young people have for it.
The Get Real Sessions keep evolving as these conversations continue, allowing the resources to reach more young people in varied settings whether that's online sessions, face to face teaching or through staff training.
It a privilege to be part of this education and I hope I am still doing this in 10 years time!
